About Us

The Mkhaya Virtual Store initiative is a service rendered by the Enactus University of Johannesburg that was originally introduced to the Enactus team in February 2021. The concept driving the initiative is to address the following key issues that small businesses face in South Africa:

       1. Lack of market access.
        2. Lack of market credibility.

In view of the fact that small businesses are suffering under the above-mentioned challenges, the Enactus University of Johannesburg identified an opportunity to help South African businesses reach their maximum potential by bridging the identified gap through the introduction of a virtual store that will market and sell products by small businesses.

In addition to these challenges, COVID-19 has contributed to the closure of several businesses, crippled the South African economy and fast-tracked the adoption of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This store aims to contribute to resuscitating businesses, accelerating economic growth in South Africa and moving small businesses into the digital age (Fourth Industrial Revolution).

The Mkhaya Virtual Store is managed by a dedicated team of Enactus members who are passionate about solving the challenges that are faced by small businesses and whose goal is to encourage South Africans to buy products that are produced locally by small businesses.
